You have probably been told from childhood that whole grains are healthy and that you should always eat whole grains. I can remember my childhood, where the topic really came up and then wholegrain bread and flour became more popular and the food industry started to advertise wholegrain (for example the percentage of wholegrain in breakfast cereals). And it’s true that wholegrains are healthy or definitely healthier than white flour. That’s why many patients and students tell me that they eat healthily because they already eat whole grains. Why this is not enough to get rid of acne and what you should focus on instead, is explained in my video.
How can fiber help maintain healthy skin?
- through a slower rise of your blood sugar levels
- by providing nutrients to the good intestinal bacteria to enable them to produce butyric acid to help maintain an intact intestinal mucosa
- so that the excretion of toxins, metabolic waste products and used hormones is fast enough
So how can you incorporate more of the fiber sources recommended in the video into your diet?
