I am all about doing this in a natural way: here are three ways in which you can help your body heal acne from the inside, through the food you eat.
Your body needs vitamins, minerals and other phytochemicals to create healthy skin cells, digest optimally and detoxify well. So, whicht is the best way to supply your body with those vital substances? Nutrient-dense food is the answer, that means food which is naturally rich in vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. The best way to do this is to eat lots of vegetables. It is best if they are fresh, rich in colour, organic and seasonal.
Vegetables, fiber and omega 3
The second type of food you need is rich in fiber. Naturally fiber-rich foods like legumes as well as vegetables are an ideal source opposed to bread, crackers or cereals who claim to be enriched with fiber. So why is fiber important? It is essential to help release toxins, used hormones and other unwanted substances through the gut (meaning: helps you go to the bathroom regularly). It also helps keeping the good bacteria in your gut flora.
Last, but certainly not least, you body needs more omega 3 rich foods. And it is probably not enough to eat more sources of omega 3, but to supplement it as well! The best way to get omega 3 is fish-oil (of course quality is key here). Plant based sources like flaxseed are good as well, but less usable for us humans. Omega 3 is a key anti-inflammatory substance!
